Creativity is at the heart of David Robinson鈥檚 career in costume design. He first put his natural artistic gifts on display as part of Otterbein鈥檚 theatre program, where his vision, unique style and willingness to attempt even the most daunting challenges were lauded by faculty and students. His career began to take shape in 1988 when he assisted Maria Bjornson (Be-Orn-Son) on the longest running musical in Broadway history — Andrew Lloyd Webber鈥檚 Broadway production of Phantom of the Opera. t. From there, he began working in the costume and wardrobe departments of some of the biggest films at the time, including Mississippi Burning, Scent of a Woman and Carlito鈥檚 Way. Whether he was costuming a leading or supporting role, David put every ounce of his creative energy into his craft to realize the final on-screen product. That dedication led to more opportunities to showcase his unique vision. Throughout his career, David鈥檚 canvas has included a wide range of stories, from Brad Pitt鈥檚 portrayal of death walking among us in Meet Joe Black, to the blue steel-gazing world of fashion models in Ben Stiller鈥檚 Zoolander. Just like as an undergrad at Otterbein, peers and critics continue to celebrate his creativity. Most recently, his work on 2019鈥檚 鈥淓scape at Dannemora鈥� earned a Primetime Emmy nomination from Outstanding Contemporary Costumes. David’s creativity and passion for costume design has earned him international recognition and we look forward to seeing his next creative vision come to life.聽
