Protect the Nest Weekly Update for Students 鈥揊ebruary 12, 2021

This update is intended to keep you informed of the latest developments from our Protect the Nest Team. Please听visit听听for additional general and student-related information. If you have questions or concerns, contact the COVID Hotline at听covid@otterbein.edu.
Reminders:
- If you think you have COVID-19 symptoms, contact the COVID Hotline at 614-823-1586 or听covid@otterbein.edu听and let our Student Affairs staff and OhioHealth representative advise you on your next steps.
- If you are asymptomatic but would like to have a COVID-19 test, you can request to be added to the weekly asymptomatic pool. Just contact the COVID Support Team at听covid@otterbein.edu.
You Make it Possible!
The week of听Feb. 1-7,听we tested听331 asymptomatic students听for COVID-19. Of those 331 students, there were ZERO positives! That听incredible result听is听possible听because you are following听the safety听protocols on and off campus. Thank you for making responsible choices and keep up the great work!
Athletics Seasons
You might not be able to cheer from the stands, but you can support your Cardinal athletes from anywhere!听Fans can watch livestreams of Cardinals match-ups听. Visit听听and all the social media outlets (@otterbeinsports) for updated schedules and continued coverage during this very fluid time.
Classroom听and Campus Space听Reservations
If you would like to use a campus space for a meeting,听gathering, activity, study group, or other use听by听a group of students,听you听are required to听reserve the room听through the听Office of Events and Conferences.听The office will review requests and go over the mandatory COVID-19 procedures if your request is approved.听Rules include:
- Do not exceed the capacity set for the room.
- Wear facial coverings.
- Leave the space set up exactly as is to ensure 6 feet of social distance.
- Sit at听a distance of 6听feet apart.
- Wipe down surfaces upon entering the space. Disinfecting wipes and hand sanitizer are provided for use.
Study Spaces on Campus
If you are looking for a space to study听or take a break between, we鈥檝e compiled a list of computer labs and campus spaces听students听can safely use. These are听relatively听quiet听spaces where it is possible for听students to听socially听distance听individually or with a couple of other students.听You are not required to reserve these study spaces.听Like in all听shared spaces on campus,听you must听follow the protocols for COVID-19 safety, including wearing a听facial covering, social distancing, and cleaning the space before you use it.
Campus Spaces:
- Campus Center: Lounge.
- The Point: Various locations.
- Towers Hall: Commuter lounge.
- Roush Hall: Fisher Gallery first and second floors.
- Library: Various location.
- Battelle Fine Arts Center: Lounge
- Science Center: Lobby, second floor lounge.
- Art and Communication Building: Lounge in the northwest corner (adjacent to radio broadcast booth).
- Outdoor areas.
