Alexandria Wilson-McDonald, Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor of Political Science. She earned her Ph.D. in political science from the University of Florida where she also earned graduate certificates in European studies and gender studies. Her scholarly work focuses on politics and gender in Central Eastern Europe in a comparative perspective. She is particularly interested in the relationship between social movement activism, gender equality, and policymaking in Czechia, Slovakia, and Poland. Her current book project聽takes a grounded, qualitative approach to examine the relationship between social movement actors and the state in countries across Central Eastern Europe, specifically focusing on how gender equality activists resist the discursive and political constraints they confront today. She has conducted extensive fieldwork in the region allowing her to build rich case studies. Dr. Wilson-McDonald鈥檚 work has been published in the academic journals聽Communist & Post-Communist Studies听补苍诲听Feminist Review. She also contributes to聽Ms. Magazine听补苍诲听The Conversation聽on timely topics of gender and politics and political developments in Europe. She teaches courses in comparative politics, global politics, and gender & politics.
